How often do you pluck, wax or shave your underarm hair?

Is it as soon as you see hairs growing?

Before, I used to pluck my underarm hair regularly as soon as I notice that they are growing a certain length. However, when I got pregnant with my second child, I stopped doing it because it was painful.

When a woman is pregnant her skin becomes sensitive. During this time, I was irritable and always felt discomfort when something touches my skin. It was also my fear of having a dark underarm that stopped me from plucking.

This continued until now that my second born is at 21 months old already.

Imagine the length of it now, before I finally decided to wax them all. HAHA...

I use to pluck them but I wanted to try a different method which is through waxing. Because it is still pandemic and I do not want to risk going out to a salon to have it done, I just bought a cold wax Bye Bye Bush by Skin Genie, 200g for 150 pesos only. I ordered it through Shopee.

Here's the step by step on how to use this product:

1. Clean and dry your armpit

Before you go ahead and wax those hairs, make sure that your underarm is free from any chemicals such as deodorant or moisturizer because it will serve as a barrier and may also irritate the skin.

2. Apply baby powder

Putting some baby powder or even a small amount of cornstarch helps the wax to grip effectively. The powder absorbs excess oil from the skin so that the wax clings to the actual hair and makes the process less painful.

3. Stretch and knead

Grab a small amount of wax from the tub and stretch and knead it until the color turns to a lighter pink. Stretching the wax makes it become stickier and will easily hold on to the underarm hair.

4. Pull the wax quickly

Once the wax turns to a lighter pink color, smooth it to the desired armpit area. You can start in a small patch or cover the whole part. Once it is fully attached to the hair, flick the wax quickly against the hair growth.

Not all hair will be removed on the first try. Roll up your wax and use it on a different spot.

You can also use tweezers for the remaining hairs.

It is important to note that this product is best used in an airconditioned room or in a well-ventilated area because the wax easily melts and can become so sticky and messy when used in a hot place.

Also, you can use wax strips and stick it to the wax for easy removal. Alternatively, you can cut a piece of paper and smooth it to the wax until it clings perfectly then flick it quickly.

5. Wash your underarms after waxing

It is important to wash your underarms after waxing to close the pores which were opened due to hair removal. Leaving them open will make it vulnerable to infection.

You can also use some moisturizer such as aloe vera gel to soothe the pain caused by waxing.

However, prevent using deodorant or any perfume within 24 hours to prevent any irritation.
